Amazon.com, Inc. today announced three enhancements to Amazon Cloud Drive and Cloud Player: storage plans that include unlimited space for music, free storage for all Amazon MP3 purchases and Cloud Player for Web, now on iPad.

“Customers are already enjoying Cloud Drive and Cloud Player and now for just $20 a year, customers can get unlimited space for music,” said Craig Pape Director of Amazon Music. “Additionally, we are adding free storage for all MP3s purchased from Amazon MP3, and support for the iPad. Our customers love Cloud Drive and Cloud Player and we’re excited to innovate these services on their behalf.”

Unlimited Space for Music

Now, for a limited time, Amazon customers who purchase a Cloud Drive storage plan will receive unlimited space for their MP3 and AAC (.m4a) music files. This offer is available for even the lowest price plan: $20/year for 20 GB of file storage plus unlimited space for music. Customers can visit (www.amazon.com/clouddrive/manage) to purchase a Cloud Drive storage plan and receive unlimited space for music.

Store all Amazon MP3 Purchases for Free

Customers can now store all of their Amazon MP3 purchases for free in Cloud Drive, including future MP3 purchases as well as all purchases made before the launch of Cloud Drive and Cloud Player. MP3s purchased from Amazon MP3 and stored in Amazon Cloud Drive will not count against a customer’s storage quota.

Cloud Player for Web on iPad

Also new, Cloud Player for Web on iPad. Cloud Player, combined with unlimited space for music in Cloud Drive, enables customers to play music stored in the cloud on any Android phone, Android tablet, Mac, PC, and now on their iPad. Cloud Player for Web has been optimized to offer customers streaming playback of their Cloud Drive music using the Safari browser for iPad. To access Cloud Player for iPad, customers simply open their Safari browser and visit (www.amazon.com/cloudplayer) to start listening to their music.

Storage for Music and More

All customers automatically start with 5 GB of free Cloud Drive storage to begin uploading their digital music library, and for a limited time, those who purchase any Cloud Drive storage plan will receive unlimited space for music at no additional cost. In addition to unlimited space for music, Cloud Drive allows customers to upload and store all kinds of digital files, including photos, videos and documents which are stored securely and available via web browser on any computer. Customers who qualified for 20 GB of free storage from earlier promotions will receive the unlimited space for music at no additional cost.

In March, Amazon launched Cloud Drive (www.amazon.com/clouddrive), Amazon Cloud Player for Web (www.amazon.com/cloudplayer), and Amazon Cloud Player for Android (www.amazon.com/cloudplayerandroid).

Together, these services enable customers to securely store music in the cloudand play it on any Android phone, Android tablet, Mac or PC, and now iPad, wherever they are. Customers can easily upload their music library to Amazon Cloud Drive and can save any new Amazon MP3 purchases directly to their Amazon Cloud Drive for free.

AARP and Concord Music Group have teamed up to create a new multi-media, online resource designed to help adults find the music they love in the digital age. AARP Internet Radio, a free music player provided by Slacker, features 18 free streaming channels of handpicked music catering to the musical tastes of Americans age 50+ and is the initiative’s centerpiece. Its aim: to make enjoying music intuitive and fun—especially for people who have been largely underserved by conventional music sources.

“AARP and Concord Music are uniquely positioned to help adults connect with the artists they love and become engaged in the online community of music,” said Hugh Delehanty, senior vice president of AARP’s media properties. “Our internet radio is easy to use and makes new resources available to people who may not be used to getting their music online, as well as those who already are.”

“Finding new music and even old favorites has become more complicated and difficult for so many people,” stated Concord Music Group president and CEO, Glen Barros. “AARP is a trusted source of information and guidance. Working closely with them, we aim to help adults across the country reconnect with the enjoyment of music and the artists who create it.”

Launching today on www.aarp.org, the music player’s channels include an array of genres featuring rock, blues, jazz, classical, R&B, coffeehouse, classic rock, oldies, country and vocals standards, just to name a few. Users seeking music from up-and-coming artists can check out the ‘Fresh Sounds’ channel providing the best of what’s new in popular music. AARP Internet Radio also features a dedicated channel highlighting the music of one particular artist, which will change from month to month. The ‘Artist’ channel is currently streaming the music of legendary songwriter Paul Simon and AARP will also unveil new channels in the coming weeks and months, including a ‘Members Choice’ channel, which will allow AARP members to serve as guest DJs.

Visitors to the AARP website can open AARP Internet Radio in a separate window displaying the music player and a list of stations to choose from. Users will have the option to play, pause or skip songs, and easily change stations. In addition, the simplified radio player from Slacker (recently selected as PC Magazine’s best streaming radio provider), allows users to multi-task, letting them stream their favorite station while working or playing online. In the future, AARP plans to make the music player available via AARP mobile apps on portable devices such as smartphones and tablets.

In addition to the music player, AARP is also enhancing editorial content on a new AARP online music page www.aarp.org/music. Drawing from sources across the music industry, this new portal offers a collection of informative music news, reviews, artist interviews, and how-to’s specifically designed for grown-up music lovers. Registered users of www.aarp.org will have the added benefit of access to the site’s music community chat room, where they can connect with music fans from around the country.

To experience AARP’s Internet Radio, visit www.aarp.org/music.

Android and other platform launches will follow shortly thereafter.
Sirius XM Radio announced today that Sway Calloway, veteran music and entertainment news reporter, will host a live weekday morning show on Eminem’s music channel, Shade 45.

Sway in the Morning will launch on Monday, July 18 at 8:00 am ET on Shade 45, channel 45. Sway in the Morning will air Monday — Friday from 8:00 am — 12:00 pm ET.

Sway is a constant presence in hip-hop culture as a co-host of the legendary syndicated “World Famous Wake Up Show” with his partner DJ King Tech and as a staple correspondent on MTV. He will host his SiriusXM Radio show every weekday live from the SiriusXM studios in New York City. Sway will welcome special guests, including hip-hop artists, celebrities and newsmakers, for in-studio interviews, present song premieres, report on music news and more.

“I’m constantly striving to be a part of winning teams and movements, and Shade 45 on SiriusXM embodies this spirit,” said Sway Calloway. “We plan to tap into hip-hop and pop culture, global and domestic news and classic and groundbreaking new music. This is truly a labor of passion for me with two of the best at what they do, Eminem and Paul Rosenberg. We plan to make more history!”

“I got my start on radio with Sway and so it only makes sense for things to come full-circle and have him join the family at Shade 45,” said Eminem. “I’m looking forward to the honor of Sway making mornings better on Shade 45 for a long time to come.”

“Sway’s voice brings a level of experience in and knowledge of the hip-hop culture that provides a perfect fit with our channel,” said Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager and Executive Producer, Shade 45 on SiriusXM. “We have had a great relationship with Sway for many years and having him join the team is an exciting opportunity for us and the Shade 45 listeners.”

Sway has been a hip-hop icon for over a decade as a performer, radio personality, album/TV producer, reporter and host. While hosting “The Wake Up Show” he is widely credited with giving Eminem, Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. their first major radio airplay to help contribute to their early successes. Sway is also known for his exclusive and wide-ranging interviews with some of the biggest names in entertainment including Bono, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, Tom Cruise and Tyler Perry, as well as his interviews with President Barack Obama, Senator John McCain and others.
