SIRIUS XM’s P.O.T.U.S. Celebrates 40th Anniversary of Moon Landing with Live Broadcast from National Air and Space Museum

SIRIUS XM Radio today announced that its P.O.T.U.S. channel will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing with a live broadcast from the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC on July 20 from 12:00 – 3:00 pm ET, on P.O.T.U.S., SIRIUS channel 110 and XM channel 130. The special will rebroadcast that night at 6:00 pm ET.

Hosts Joe Mathieu and Tim Farley will bring listeners inside this historic event and interview Apollo astronauts, the people who preserve the history of space flight, and the politicians who will determine the future of America’s space program. The broadcast will include all three Apollo 11 astronauts — Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins — talking about the mission in their own words, including an interview with Buzz Aldrin, and remarks from Sunday’s Annual John H. Glenn Lecture at the museum featuring the Apollo 11 crew. P.O.T.U.S. also interviews Alan Bean, the fourth man to walk on the moon. Bean became a painter after his NASA career and his new exhibit is called “The First Artist on Another World.”

The special will feature tributes to legendary newsman Walter Cronkite and his historic reporting of the July 20, 1969 moment when man first walked on the moon.

P.O.T.U.S. was originally created to offer unprecedented unfiltered coverage of the 2008 presidential election and has evolved into SIRIUS XM Radio’s channel dedicated to The Politics of the United States. P.O.T.U.S. bridges the gap between the politics of the White House and the issues that matter most to Americans, broadcasting an independent forum for political news and discussion. Broadcasting live from Washington, DC and New York, P.O.T.U.S tells the story of American politics with unbiased news programs, live coverage of major political events inside and outside the beltway, and on-air commentary from listeners that shape political discussion throughout the day with exclusive news and talk shows hosted by Joe Mathieu, Tim Farley and Pete Dominick.

On a side note I would highly recommend everyone check out http://wechoosethemoon.org/ if you have any interest in Apollo 11.
