The guys over at NiceMac just released a press release letting everyone know that Starplayr “could not be approved at this time”!
Here is the info:
NiceMac is made up of 4 members all of which have always been
die-hard fans of Sirius and XM. Over the years we have individually
contributed to the ad-hoc player offerings available for Sirius XM
internet content. Last year, we all had the fortune of crossing paths
at which time we decided to band together and focus on helping deliver
Sirius XM content to subscribers everywhere and anywhere.
As of
yesterday, the uSirius StarPlayr Application for iPhone still had a
status of “In Review” with Apple. Later in the evening we became aware
that the application was not rejected, however could not be approved at
this time.
As fans, we are committed to continuing to work with
all parties involved as necessary in any capacity required to see this
product to market. It is our goal, as it has always been, to release
this application at as low of a price point as possible, if not free of
charge.
We thank all of our supporters and users of our current
offerings, as well as those who have been patiently waiting and Beta
testing while we work to bring uSirius StarPlayr for iPhone to market.
Sincerely,
The NiceMac Team
Don’t be a slacker. Be a starplayer.
I wonder what the problem is? Would be nice to hear what Apple has to say.

SIRIUS XM Radio aired this morning the first
interview with the newly-appointed Archbishop of New York, Archbishop
Timothy Dolan, and the man he is succeeding in that post, His Eminence
Edward Cardinal Egan, exclusively on The Catholic Channel, SIRIUS
channel 159 and XM channel 117.
This morning, His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, announced that
Archbishop Dolan, who has served as the Archbishop of Milwaukee since
2002, will be the next Archbishop of New York. Archbishop Dolan will
assume the post on April 15, 2009, succeeding His Eminence Edward
Cardinal Egan, who is retiring after nearly nine years in that
position.
The interview, which was conducted by Catholic Channel program
director Rob Astorino and aired live this morning from the residence at
St. Patrick’s Cathedral, will be rebroadcast throughout the day on The
Catholic Channel. The audio can also be heard online at www.sirius.com/thecatholicchannel.
On The Catholic Channel on SIRIUS XM:
Archbishop Dolan: “The Cardinal said we can break into SIRIUS XM
Radio and I said, ‘Not if they’re [airing] a Notre Dame football game,
we can’t!’ That would be getting off on the wrong foot! But we
appreciate this time and do I ever look forward to [it]. You talk about
this year of St. Paul, what an excellent means of communication. Thanks
for your work. God Bless everybody.”
Astorino: “Thank you Archbishop and no Brewers [talk], this is Yankees/Mets territory.”
Archbishop Dolan: “So I hear.”
The Catholic Channel launched on SIRIUS in 2006 featuring a
modern format with an open dialogue focused on Catholicism in the 21st
century. The Catholic Channel’s exclusive daily programming lineup
features shows hosted by Cardinal Egan, Fr. Dave Dwyer, Gus Lloyd, Bob
Dunning, “The Catholic Guy” Lino Rulli, and others. Programming on The
Catholic Channel also includes human-interest stories and inspirational
themes, reflections on Scripture, Church history, sacred music, shows
offering spiritual guidance, and football and basketball games from the
University of Notre Dame. Visit www.sirius.com/thecatholicchannel for more info.

SIRIUS XM Radio announced today that NASDAQ had granted
the Company’s request to issue new preferred stock in connection with
its previously announced agreements with Liberty Media Corporation
without shareholder approval.
Liberty Media’s investment will be funded in two separate phases.
Upon completion of the second phase of the Liberty investments, SIRIUS
XM will issue Liberty an aggregate of 12.5 million shares of preferred
stock convertible into 40% of the common stock of SIRIUS XM. Details
regarding the transaction are available in the Current Report on Form
8-K the Company filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on
February 17, 2009.
While the NASDAQ rules generally require shareholder approval
prior to the issuance of securities that are convertible into more than
20% of the outstanding shares of a listed company, the Company is
relying on an exception in cases when the delay in securing shareholder
approval would seriously jeopardize the financial viability of the
enterprise. The Company’s Audit Committee has approved the use of this
exception.
