XM NavTraffic Expands to 22 New 2009 General Motors Vehicle Models
GM’s Latest Generation of Navigation Includes XM’s Award-Winning
Real-Time Traffic Services For Up-To-The-Minute Traffic Intelligence
XM, the nation’s leading provider of satellite radio,
today announced at the 2008 Dallas Auto Show the continued expansion of
its award-winning real-time XM NavTraffic service into 22 GM vehicles
in the 2009 model year.
XM NavTraffic is already the traffic information standard on the
highly- praised Cadillac CTS model. XM NavTraffic will expand across
the GM vehicle lineup to provide real-time traffic intelligence to 22
navigation-equipped GM vehicles in the 2009 model year. Among the
vehicles to offer XM NavTraffic will be navigation-equipped versions of
some of GM’s most popular models, including the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC
Sierra, Buick Enclave, Saturn Vue and Hummer H2.
Powered by NAVTEQ, XM NavTraffic is the nation’s leading real-time
traffic service, featuring comprehensive information and coast-to-coast
updates every minute. With availability in over 80 major North American
markets, XM NavTraffic ensures that drivers have the most current and
most detailed traffic and incident information at their fingertips,
whether they’re commuting or traveling.
“We are proud to partner with GM on their groundbreaking new suite
of navigation services,” said Steve Cook, executive vice president,
automotive, XM Satellite Radio. “Today’s car buyers want easy-to-use
infotainment that helps them manage an increasingly complex commuting
and driving environment. XM NavTraffic will put the best possible
intelligence at GM drivers’ fingertips.”
XM NavTraffic feeds data on incidents, such as accidents and road
construction, directly to a vehicle’s GPS navigation system via XM’s
satellite and ground network. The driver is alerted to these incidents
through the navigation screen, allowing him or her to route around a
jam before getting caught in traffic. Where available, XM NavTraffic
provides real-time traffic information by using red, yellow and green
color codes to indicate high, medium and low congestion levels.
All XM Radio and XM NavTraffic-equipped General Motors models come standard with a three-month complimentary subscription.
